  • 100 Canadian dollars
  • Barrie

Tour Description

We will meet at the Barrie waterfront at 8:30am and spend the rest of the morning exploring the shoreline of Lake Simcoe around the nearby area. This location is a fantastic spot to look for waterbirds, especially loons, grebes and diving ducks. Pacific Loon is regular here, and we'll try our best to pick one out in the large groups of Common Loons. Little Gulls, Forster's Terns and even the occasional jaeger or Sabine's Gull is seen here during the fall... You never know what you might find when birding beside the lake! After a quick lunch we will have the option of birding at Stayner Sewage Lagoons (35 minutes away from Barrie), which is often a great spot to find interesting goose and duck species. During the morning we will go over identification tips, showing you some of the best hotspots in the area and ensuring you get the best possible views of the birds we encounter. We will aim to end the day between 1-1:30pm. This trip is accessible to those with physical disabilities and will mainly involve short walks on maintained trails from parking areas down to the lakeshore (300m max). Bathroom breaks will be scheduled every 1.5 hours throughout the day. *Notes about the day and things to bring* -bring your own snacks, and water (keep hydrated!) -bring sunscreen, a hat and clothing that can handle whatever the October weather throws at us!
