Tour Description

This tour will cover a half day of birding with a small group led by two expert birders, covering topics of your interest. Activities will include exploring the unique Alvar habitats of Pelee Island, which are perfect for looking for endemic or rare flora and fauna, such as Blue Racer, Small Mouth Salamander, Yellow-breasted Chat, and Climbing Prairie Rose. We will bird along the beaches of either of Pelee Island's peninsulas in search of migratory songbirds such as Blackburnian Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, American Redstart, Palm Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager. The peninsulas of Pelee Island are also good locations to spot southern specialties that strayed farther north such as, Summer Tanager, White-eyed Vireo, Yellow-throated warbler, and Blue Grosbeak. There are so many unique and exciting habitats to visit that we will have a pretty packed adventure! This tour is perfect for visitors who want an introduction to birding on Pelee Island. This hike is accessible for those with physical challenges; the trails are well maintained and flat. There is a few hundred meters of sand on the beaches. We will spend the day birding at a slow and relaxed pace, taking frequent stops along the way. Bathroom stops will be spaced throughout the day and easily accessible. Pricing: $100 *Notes* -the ferry ride to and from Pelee Island will not be covered by this tour, it is your responsibility to book your own transportation to and from the island. Show up at least 30 minutes before your ferry departure time to ensure a timely departure. -bring your own lunches, snacks, and water (keep hydrated!) -a scope will be provided, but feel free to bring your own!
